Surprise Relocation for the Smiths

We have to move out of our home of the past three years. This was unexpected and poorly timed right after the holidays. We had no warning from the owners or property managers who only provided notice after attempts to reach them for an update on the renewal.
Now nothing they've done is illegal and we know that it had to come to an end at some point but we had assurances that it wouldn't be this soon. Even a few more weeks notice would have put us in a position to prepare, but we have to be out by February 28th. Based on the notice we received last week, everyone but our family knew this was the plan as far back as mid-December. It would have made a cheap Christmas but left us in a much better position today, perhaps even with a signed contract on a new place.
The good news is that we've already started hunting and found a number of possible and good places cheaper than our current digs. These options would keep our son in the county technical school. We have to imagine ONE of our selections will approve our application.
The bad news is that Pam is going in for surgery and this will limit her ability to participate in the move or even plan it. While it isn't "major" surgery, it will take about a week for her to recover in the best case.
The other bad news is that the news hits us at a terrible time, financially. With Christmas over and my writing work barely covering expenses, we have very little in the realm of savings. We have our income and what little I'd put aside for the 2018 marketing/travel budget. We've cancelled all our commitments including Pam's charity events and any conferences until we get this figured out.
We're looking at expenses for deposits, fees, moving supplies and rentals, cleaning, pizza and beer for volunteers, bribe money, Xanax refills, and all the usual things associated with moving. We also know our living room furniture will not survive the move.
While we can cover a lot of this, the best case will leave us in the hole until well into 2018 and kill any forward momentum we had cleaning up our finances from 2015-2017.
Any donation over $25 will receive a copy of one of my books, signed. I know that's not much, but I'd rather sell my books to raise this money and the exchange would make me feel less like a pauper. If you'd prefer to make a deal for some costume work from Pam, I'm sure we can work something out there, as well. Donations will go into the moving account. Anything beyond what we will actually need will be donated to Vickie's Angel Foundation.
