Surgery recovery, loss of income

My name is Jerry and I am trying to raise money for my father, Donald. My dad went to see the doctor early this week with some trouble breathing and some minor chest pains which he attributed to a developing cold. The doctors became concerned with the level of chest pain he was experiencing and eventually ordered an angiogram which revealed significant blockage and the need for triple bypass surgery to relieve the blockage. This surgery is scheduled to take place next week. My dad is a strong person and is taking the news well, but the additional concern that this poses is a 6 week recovery period during which he will not be able to work. He has no short term disability to cover the missing income and is on a very tight budget. 

This situation is occurring at a time shortly after my dad has undergone significant personal and financial changes. In April of this year, my mom, his wife of 40+ years, passed away quite suddenly. She was his best friend and constant companion, and her passing has left a gaping hole in his life. Unfortunately, her passing also left a financial burden as she had no life insurance and my dad has been saddled with significant expenses due to her arrangements that has depleted all the savings he had accumulated. 

My dad has always been an incredibly kind and giving person, always willing to sacrifice his own needs for the sake of others. I am asking for help to raise funds to cover his loss of income while he is recovering from open-heart surgery during these next 6 weeks. He needs to be able to give his full attention to his recovery and not be stressed about his financial situation.  Every little bit will help to relieve his burden and make this a positive time of healing.
