Surgery for guide dog - TPLO

Donation protected
My 7 1/2 year old guide dog Zircon requires an operation for TPLO, or tibial-plateau-leveling osteotomy.  This is a surgery performed on dogs to stabilize the stifle joint after ruptures of the cranial cruciate ligament.  He is still very active and one of the most wonderful guide dogs I have ever had (my third).

I live alone and have been legally blind for over 42 years.  Whether it's getting the mail at the community mailbox, walking to the store or even going to the gym, Zircon's always by my side.  It's like having my personal "Ubber" driver with me at all times.

Zircon has still many years left of being a guide dog.   This operation will help him continue guiding me and able to continue going on our own adventures.

The funds raised will help pay for one leg surgery which cost over $4,200.  This is only an estimate of services and the cost may be more.  The hospital where the surgery will be performed has offered to donate $1,000 towards the operation.

The operation will be held on January 10, 2018.  Zircon will stay at the hospital for an additional two days to recover from the sugery before he can be sent home for rehabilitation.  He will then be out of "service" for an additional two to three months.

I do not work and live on my disability pension.  This campaign will help fund the surgery.

Thank you for all your support.
