Surgery Fund for Boy

Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Celine Hazelton, and I am one of many volunteers in a group that travels from Maine to South Dakota every year to provide Native American people on the Pine Ridge Reservation with free spay and neuter for their animals. During our trip this year in September, we were called to help with a dog named Boy. His owners explained that he was hit by a car and had two broken legs. He arrived to us with homemade splints made of pieces of wood and duct tape on both his right front and right back leg. Upon examining him and his two legs, it was decided that his back leg was too damaged to try to save. His front leg was broken, but since both were on the same side, we did what we could to stabilize it to help heal the limb. Due to it being a free spay/neuter clinic, we didn't have access to x-rays for Boy to see how broken his front leg really was.
When Boy's owner came to check on him after surgery, she decided to surrender him to our vet. Since he was surrendered, he was our dog now! One of our volunteers, Kerry, kept him in her hotel room for the rest of our trip to make sure he was recovering (and to keep them both company). He very quickly became our trip mascot and was (and is!) loved by all of us who were a part of his journey.
Boy made the long drive back to Maine from South Dakota with our volunteer Jenny. Since being home, he has seen a vet to get x-rays for his front leg that was splinted in South Dakota. The break in his leg was much worse than any of the vets or vet techs had expected. This means surgery for Boy!
In total, the surgery plus x-rays and vet office visits is totaling up to be about $3500.00. That's a lot of money for anyone. Boy is loved by all of us volunteers, but together we do not have the funds to pay for the entirety of his surgery. So, we are requesting donations to help pay for Boy's surgery, x-rays, and post-op care.
Throughout his entire journey, Boy has been the sweetest dog. He understood that our group was here to help him and give him love. We want to continue loving this dog and caring for him. Attached are pictures of Boy's journey, his x-rays, and some cute videos of him hobbling around in South Dakota.
Thank you so so much for reading this and for your donation.
