Update on Bad Boy:
The infection in his foot is under control, and it's healing up well. Just to let everybody know, the broken leg is not causing him pain right now. It’s old enough that it has healed, but the issue is that he’s not using the leg, so if he continues to drag it around and bump it on things long-term, the wound on his foot will open back up and continually cause open wounds and infection.
I've been looking into options for boarding and transportation to Kingston, but because the cost would be so high, it's looking like it will actually make more sense to do everything at Value Vets, where he initially got his x-rays.
I've added the updated quote to the images above. I've also added a neuter to the surgery because that will be important for Bad Boy's recovery and his life moving forward.
Doing it locally will also save Bad Boy from having to do two long drives and then be transported again after the surgery. He'll have an hour-long drive to the vet, get everything done there, and then go home after the two weeks of recovery.
I've raised $850CDN so far. If I can raise an additional $510 CDN/$350 USD, I'll have enough to cover the surgeries and boarding.
I'm so grateful to everyone who has donated so far—a huge thank you from myself, Bad Boy, and his owners. I'm hopeful that we can raise the remaining funds to make this happen and give Bad Boy the quality of life he deserves.
Bad Boy's Story:
Bad Boy is a sweet little dog who suffered a broken leg a couple of months ago, and unfortunately, was not able to get the care he needed at the time. After getting x-rays and an assessment at the vet, we've been told that amputation is the best option for his recovery. This is because he's not able to put weight the broken leg and as he keeps dragging the foot it will continually cause wounds.
The most affordable quote we could find for the surgery is from the Kingston JSPCA which covers the surgery as well 5 days of onsite aftercare. We’re still figuring out the cost of transportation, as we’re hoping someone might volunteer to drive him.
After the surgery, Bad Boy will need time to recover. He’ll stay at the Kingston JSPCA for five days before he’s ready to leave, but he’ll still require a temporary foster home for about two weeks before he can safely return to the yard where he lives.
Any contribution—big or small—will help us get Bad Boy the care he needs. If you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser would also be a huge help. If anyone is able to provide a temporary recovery foster home for him, please reach out to us. We would also be grateful for donations of food or bandages to help with his recovery.
Thank you so much for your support!
