Surgery Bella

Meet Bella, our 15 year old/young Hannovarian mare that has had hormone/medical issues all her life. As a result was irritable and unmanageable and she was passed on by previous owners quite a few times.

She has had a loving home with us for about 10 years.  When in heat she is extremely uncomfortable, she goes through her cycle every 3 weeks. Medication (Regumate) stopped working for her, eventually it made her dangerous. Surgery (ovarectomy) is our last resort to give her comfort and help her have a fulfilling life and a riding career.

Previous owners tried to breed her to solve the issue, but she aborted the foal, similar to her losing her mother when she was born.

Her surgery is scheduled at Colorado State University on April 11 2018

The recent loss of Zephyr, her mate and our cherished Danish Prince, has made us realize Bella was demoted to 2nd violin, while he was placed 1st. Yet all of us here at our Sanctuary and guests that meet her are impressed with Bella's presence, grace  and affectionate heart. Please help us give Bella another chance.
