Surgery and Medical Bills for Rusty

We are reaching out to ask for help with medical bills for our family pet Rusty. He is a year and a half years old and is a huge part of our family.
Today 2/14/18 around 430pm, Rusty was involved with a hit and run driver. As Rusty does every day, he watches from the living room window for my 2 intermediate daughter to come home from school. As they came home, one opened the door and he greeted her. He then saw my other daughter across the street and started running to her. That’s when a driver hit him and drove off. My daughter is 12 years old and had to witness someone hit her dog and drive off like Rusty was nothing. As we took Rusty to the hospital, my 12yr old daughter didn’t want to come out of her room. All she’s been doing is crying. This is her baby.
We took Rusty to the Waipahu Waikele Hospital and they did an X-ray. The X-ray reveals that Rusty encountered a broken leg and hip. The breaks are too high up for the doctors to do a splint so he requires surgery. I was advised that the surgery alone would cost about $4000 and that doesn’t include treatment or medications.
This puts me in a desperate situation. I don’t have that kind of money to make this surgery happen. I barely had the $545 it cost to just do the X-ray alone tonight.
So here I am, creating a GoFundMe account to ask all of you for help in helping us get Rusty the medical attention he needs. Yes Rusty is a dog, but Rusty is also a family member that needs your help.
