My name is Vivia and I’m writing to ask you to support me in accomplishing my goal to help with additional surgeries I was advised is necessary in my eradication of my breast cancer diagnosis. A little bit about my situation In 2014 I found a lump in my left breast that was deemed benign and performed a lumpectomy, then in 2021 another lump was found in my left breast and upon completion of a mammogram followed by ultrasound additional lumps were found in both breasts and upon performing a biopsy it turned out one was cancerous. Based on family history I decided to perform a double mastectomy. At the time insurance covered the surgery and family and friends assisted with the cost of the coinsurance and additional expenses since I was out of work for a year doing chemotherapy and radiation. I am currently still undergoing treatment in the forms of mandatory monthly Zolodex injections that are quite costly and painful along with pills such as Verzenio and Letrozole, that are mandatory in ensuring that the cancer does not return. My recent doctors visit I was advised that since my cancer is fed by estrogen then I would need to remove my ovaries which requires surgery and being out of work for 4 weeks for healing and I also have to perform a DIEP reconstructive surgery in building back the breasts which requires me being out of work again for an additional 6 weeks. Both surgeries come at a cost of approximately $30, 000 with insurance covering only a partial amount of the entire cost of the surgeries. Hence I’m seeking your help in raising the additional cost of $10,000 to cover the portion that’s not covered by my insurance. I’m a single Mom and I do work hard to ensure I can afford my healthcare and living expenses but at this time with all the these surgeries it will add an additional financial burden hence the reason asking for help. PS. I’m cancer free  as of today the cancer did not return. This surgery is just to ensure I can eliminate the belly injections monthly and have a higher chance of the cancer not returning. The reconstructive surgery which is optional is just to complete the surgery that was started at the double mastectomy but at that time I had infection complications so now that I’m healed in the chest area he can complete what he started.
