His strength and courage has been amazing ....whether it's going to work while wearing a chemotherapy bag or hiding the pain while playing with his children it has been astonishing. Derek and our family have quietly been fighting this battle in private but we no longer have the strength, funds and stamina to keep doing it alone. He lives each day in the present, which has been a wonderful thing, but unfortunately we never financially prepared for this kind of future.
Derek's employer, Daly General Contracting of Lowell, MA has been an incredible and loyal supporter throughout Derek's struggle. David Daly and his team are the force behind this campaign and we can only say thank you and thank you again.
We are very proud and humble family and do not like accepting outside support, but the fact of the matter is that Derek has been unable to work and the cost of his care, in addition to help providing for a family of five, has become just too much for us to manage.
