Reiny Wolk needs our support.

For those of us that know and love Reiny Wolk - this call to action is really all that we need to hear. After all, Reiny is one of the most self-sacrificing, devoted, giving, strong, hardworking people we've ever met. Yes, he works hard. But he also can cut loose with the best of them. His smile and laughter light up the room. He leaves a lifelong impression on all of us that are lucky enough to know him.

On a personal note, to just call Reiny my step-dad would be a disservice to him and to our relationship. This man has taught me so much about life - how to drive a stick shift at the age of 11 on back roads above the Yakima Valley (and then how to drive an 18 wheeler on the plains of North Dakota a year later). He's taught me that weekends should be spent getting lost in a Ford Bronco deep in the Cascades and that no brake pad, fuel pump or timing belt is too tough to tackle. Reiny has taught me what it means to provide for my family - whatever it takes. And most importantly, he's taught me what it means to love - unconditionally.

Tomorrow Reiny Wolk goes to battle with prostate cancer in the form of surgery. The doctors are hopeful that the cancer remains isolated and can be removed 100% in surgery. All other tests have not indicated signs of cancer elsewhere in his body. However, we of course ask that you’ll join us in sending thoughts and prayers up for him tomorrow while he is in surgery.

We would also like to ask those of you who are able to consider supporting Reiny in a very tangible way as well. Not only are the medical expenses beginning to pile up but he will also need to miss significant time at work to recover from surgery. My mom and Reiny are not ones to raise their hands and ask for help. They’re frankly too busy raising their hands to help someone else to even stop and consider it. So we’re asking for your help for them during this time.
