Jaleel trip to WORLD LEADERSHIP CONGRESS

Donation protected
Hi everyone,
This past weekend I attended a leadership program called Hugh O'brian Youth Leadership Seminar (HOBY). The NorCal seminar was held at Sac State for 2 and a half days. The HOBY program has seminars that take place all over the country, comprised of the sophomores with the most leadership potential. To ensure this, the program requires the counselors of various high schools to choose a student that they think is the best leader out of the sophomore class. I was lucky enough to be chosen to represent my high school. With that being said, HOBY holds a 8 day World Leadership Congress (WLC) in chicago, and they inspire the top alumni from the seminars all over the country to attend. Now, at my seminar they interviewed the top four "ambassadors" (students) for a scholarship to waive the 1,700 fee to attend the conference in chicago. I had the honor of being interviewed, but unfortunately I was not selected for the scholarship, and that leads me into the reason I am emailing this group today. It's a lot of money to pull together in a short period of time, and frankly, my family and I can't afford it, so with the work ethic and diligence I embody, I have chosen to raise that money. This opportunity is once in a life time and I want nothing more than to attend this conference. So I've been presenting my dilemma to local businesses, family members, friends, teachers, counselors, teammates, etc; In hopes that they will sponsor and support me in my journey by donating any amount of money so I can attend this conference.

You may be wondering what I plan to do with the knowledge and skills that I acquire from these seminars, and I want to notify you guys that I have made strides to bringing a Mass Cultural Enlightenment Day to the local high school campuses, in effort to educate students, and to destroy the false stereotypes that society has implanted in our generation's minds about various cultures. This is a topic I feel very passionate about, and I have created a goal for myself. That goal is to begin a non-violent protest with the support of my peers and community, that takes place at the capitol building.

It may seem a little out of reach, but i have drafted a THOROUGH plan and with a positive attitude I know I can achieve this goal. I think it would be very beneficial for me to attend this seminar so I can be properly equipped to lead our youth and to maximize the positive impact that I can bring to our community, and I need your guy's help.

thank you,
Jaleel
