<div>In October, a small group of final-year ECU nursing students will travel to the beautiful island of Tonga, a beautiful Polynesian kingdom in the South Pacific, for an international clinical placement. Our international clinical placement is not just a trip but a mission to collaborate with local nursing and midwifery staff across various clinical settings. Your support will directly contribute to strengthening their strained healthcare system, making a significant difference in the lives of the local community.

<div>Tonga currently faces unique challenges in delivering quality health care to its people, with limited resources, a scarcity of basic medical supplies, and a severe shortage of trained medical professionals. The situation was further exacerbated in 2022 when a devastating tsunami destroyed hundreds of structures and displaced over 1,500 people, putting an immense strain on an already fragile healthcare system.

<div>With a heartfelt mission to support the health care system of Tonga, the money we raise aims to:

<div>1.	Transport and buy medical resources and supplies to take with us and donate to the hospital
</div>
<div>2.	Transport and buy practice resources for Tonga's nursing students to help train a new generation of nurses in Tonga. 
</div>
<div>3.	Support local Tongan communities and villages 
</div>
<div>4.	Purchase activities for kids in the Paediatric wards 
</div>

<div>These resources are essential for healthcare facilities and will positively impact the quality of care in Tonga.

<div>We want to ensure complete transparency in our fundraising efforts by stating that all money raised will be used towards supporting Tonga's health care system. We also want to be clear that the funds raised will not be used to cover the students' trip expenses.
