Supporting the Freeman Family

About a week ago, Colin Freeman experienced a silent stroke; which at first mimicked all the signs of a seizure. He was treated in the Neurology Department at University Hospital in Columbia. The lasting effects have been debilitating, leaving him with a significant need for intensive therapy including occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy. He is now at RUSK rehabilitation hospital—for the next week or so. He is experiencing lack of movement and control on his right side. His motor ability and speech are affected. His cognitive functions is in tack. Fortunately, it has been forcasted that with intensive and ongoing therapies he has the chance to return to activities his family holds dear.

“For those of you lucky enough to know Colin and Ali Freeman you know how brightly they radiate love and kindness. I’ve been lucky enough to call them family for the last ten years. Colin even married my husband and I; and personally wrote the ceremony so it fit us just right.

The lengths this beautiful human would go to, not only for the people he loves but for a complete and utter stranger is truly selfless. He would give you the shirt off his back..it may be a tad big(he stands over 6 feet).

Colin and Ali need us now. This therapy is absolute necessary for him to return to creek stompin’ with his love, building tree houses with his son, Lochlan, and returning to work which drives him professionally—building and creating.” —Rae Adams

This brings us to the concerning need for his family. As an adult , Colin has had much difficulty in finding health insurance because of a pre-existing condition. His insurance is not great and did not include reimbursement for therapy after a stroke. Projected out of pocket expense could be over $150,000.

This amount of debt is difficult for anyone. It is especially depressing hardship on a young family.

We can do hard things—it sure does take a village—thank you for supporting this beautiful family.
