As some of you may know, approximately hundred and sixty five troops from the Illinois National Guard's 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team deployed to the Ukraine the middle of June. My friend Sarah had a wonderful idea to take in as many donations to send to our troops at the end of October as a reminder that we all appreciate what they do everyday over there, and are thinking of and supporting them as they serve their country. We were so happy with the outcome of how much the community reached out and donated; even the local high school reached out to help participate and the newspaper did a story on the donations (http://www.oursentinel.com/2020/10/st-joseph-resident-to-send-care.html?m=1 ). These donations resulted in us being able to send 25 boxes full of every day goods and necessities for our soldiers on October 30th in hopes that they will reach them on Veterans day. The end result cost over $500 in shipping. We had some monetary donations for shipping costs, however we were still a couple hundred dollars short, which Sarah had to pay for out of pocket. We were hoping to raise more money to offset the personal shipping cost, and any help would be greatly appreciated. We thank you so much in advance for anything you are willing to donate. Any additional funds collected will be used for the next shipment of donated goods.
