Supporting the CCSF Undocumented Student Community

The City College of San Francisco (CCSF) undocumented student community face obstacles to their educational goals on a daily basis, such as financial barriers, food and housing insecurity, lack of resources and opportunities, along with increased stress and anxiety due to fear of deportation and uncertainty of the future of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has magnified these obstacles with many facing unemployment and unable to receive federal funding due to their immigration status.
Many undocumented individuals have either lost jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and are not eligible for unemployment or social security benefits to support themselves. Of those who are still employed, many are working on the front lines of the health and food production sectors. These individuals do not have paid sick leave to protect themselves during this time.
Under the COVID-19 relief package, individuals without a Social Security Number were excluded from receiving a stimulus check, even if individuals with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number filed taxes. Furthermore, undocumented students were denied emergency grant funding under the Federal CARES Act, as those funds were specified for students eligible for federal financial aid.
In collaboration with American Federation of Teachers, 2121, City College Faculty Union and on behalf of the CCSF undocumented student community, we would like to ask for your help in supporting these students in their time of need. The CCSF undocumented student community consists of City DREAM Resource Center participants, AB 540 eligible students, CA Dream Act applicants, DACA recipients, and any students facing immigration issues.
Though our undocumented student community requires continuous support, we want to provide urgent funding to our students now with $100 gift cards from Amazon, Target, or Safeway, to be used for groceries, books, and other day-to-day necessities.
If we are to raise our goal, 100% of our donations would go directly to our CCSF undocumented student community. With the $10,000 goal, we would be able to give 100 students temporary relief from financial insecurity.

No Fascist USA! The John Brown Anti-Klan Committee and Lessons for Today's Movements (City Lights) by Hilary Moore and James Tracy. The story of a group of white anti-racist activists who put it on the line to confront the rise of the racist far-right during the Reagan Years.
