Supporting SLO Famlies

My name is Claudia Kraake and this pandemic has caused a state of uncertainty and misfortune for many.  Although none of us know what is to come, I am certain of one thing: I know I can work to make a change. 


These trying times have inspired me to create a platform to help families. I'm striving to support families in creating safe and progressive learning environments. I appreciate the struggles in education brought about by this pandemic.  As we navigate this new virtual world, I have a plan:


-Create a connection between qualified college students and developing children and teenagers.  
-Further wellness, growth, and academics into children’s lives.  
-Bring us together even though we are apart. 

Navigating this new world can be difficult, but with the right resources/program and execution we can come out of this stronger than ever. Now - more than ever - we need emotion work in our academics. This is where my heart is.


To broaden the scope of this project and reach the families who need it most, I need help.  Many families face both academic crises and increased financial burdens due to this pandemic. Therefore, not all families can afford to compensate tutors and facilitators.  Furthermore, not all tutors and facilitators can afford to volunteer during these times.  In this light, I plan to collect donations for families in the San Luis Obispo area to help them fund their child's academic needs. All money raised through this page will go directly to San Luis Obispo families to compensate facilitators through this program.

About me --


I am a full time Child Development student with a minor in Psychology studying at California Polytechnic State University.  I have been a part of the San Luis Obispo Community for two years and would love to further my involvement by giving back to the community. I am a lifelong learner and my educational career is focused on my passion to be a nurturer and emotion worker.  I have recognized the educational emergencies occurring right now, and I know I can support and guide families.  I have training in child caretaking, diversity & inclusion, and emotion work.  I have created and supported personalized learning systems that empower students to learn and grow in a learning model that supports academic goals, as well as ensuring the child’s wellness is always at the center of all learning.  Along with, experience in tutoring children ages five to thirteen, practice in mindfulness, mentoring autistic children/ children with learning disabilities, facilitating groups of children and adults, and a full heart that is ready to aid in this time of need.
