Supporting Rosa's Journey
Donation protected
This is a story about a mother's survival, perseverance, tenacity, hope and future. It's about seeking a new life for the sake of one's children, and one's self. It's about new beginnings, and seeking refuge in a country based on exactly that opportunity. And, ultimately, it's about community and collective action.
Over a year ago, Rosa began a seemingly impossible journey. She, along with her four children, joined over 7,000 people and walked from Honduras to San Diego, California. This treacherous voyage become known as the caravan.
Rosa and her children's journey took three months, to walk over three thousand miles. Imagine the miracles and the power of a mother's love.
Rosa has been living in New Orleans in a small apartment with her four young children, Kimberly, Allison, Steven and Jason, as her asylum request makes its way through the court system. Because of COVID-19, any hopes of progress has been stalled. Please take a moment today to reflect on the caregivers and mothers in immigrant communities, especially. Those who are considered essential workers making a life for their families, and putting their own lives at risk simultaneously during this time.
Thank you to our dear friend Paola Mendoza who has worked tirelessly to support Rosa and advocate for immigrant communities. And thank you in advance for your donation.
Please note that all funds raised will be withdrawn by the organizer, Celine DeCarlo and sent to Rosa via her Western Union account to cover her rent and supplies for her children (diapers, clothes, and groceries etc). Proof of withdrawal and payments to Rosa are available. Please reach out to [email redacted] for more information.
