We are raising funds to support our work at our nonprofit, Rice County Neighbors United/Barrios Unidos. We cover housing, economic stability, artistic expression and wellbeing. Our most visible initiative is Mercado Local, a market that is much more than just a market—it feels like home to many and is uplifting the talents and aspirations of many entrepreneurs. As a nonprofit market and art and community space, we celebrate the talents and contributions of immigrant entrepreneurs and artists while fostering a welcoming environment for all. We need your help to continue to support our work as a nonprofit and our support to the many families connected to Mercado Local. This initiative is maintained with grants and donations from people like you! We have also seen less immigrants come to the store and art exhibit space in the context of the fear we are experiencing as immigrants.

Mercado Local has over 20 vendors, mostly women, from Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, the United States, and Spain! It showcases the diverse talents of our community and invites everyone to experience a truly unique place in Northfield. Located in downtown Northfield between the restaurant Reunion and the Fifth Street Lofts, it is the perfect place to visit, find unique gifts, support immigrant businesses, and experience local art. Our logo was created by Rocky Casillas, a talented local artist and Mercado Local vendor.
