<div>Gavin Yates-Lyons was an 18-year-old who finished high school early at Lowndes County High School, where he excelled as a football player and was known for his respectful nature, kind heart, and deep love for his family and friends. Gavin began attending college at Ball State University in January 2026 and proudly celebrated his high school graduation on May 22, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him.

<div>Tragically, the morning after his graduation, Gavin was caught in the crossfire of a shooting and suffered critical injuries. Despite the efforts of medical professionals and the countless prayers offered on his behalf, Gavin unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

<div>While our hearts are broken by this tremendous loss, we find comfort in knowing that Gavin is now resting with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven.

<div>As Gavin’s family begins the unimaginable journey of grieving and navigating the difficult days ahead, we are continuing this fundraiser to support them during their time of need.

<div>I, Sebrina Franklin, am the niece of Ardrenia Blackshear Lyons, and I organized this fundraiser on behalf of Gavin’s parents, Ardrenia Blackshear Lyons and Michael Lyons. In the midst of this devastating loss, many people have reached out asking how they can help support the family. This GoFundMe was created with that purpose in mind.

<div>Please note that this is the only approved fundraising account established for Gavin’s family. The sole beneficiaries of this fundraiser are Gavin’s parents, Ardrenia Blackshear Lyons and Michael Lyons, and all donations will go directly toward supporting them during this difficult time.

<div>The family has been overwhelmed by the love, prayers, and support from the community. For those who have asked how they can help, any donation, no matter the amount, will be a meaningful blessing. Most importantly, we ask that you continue to keep Gavin’s family, friends, and loved ones in your prayers as they mourn the loss of a remarkable young man whose impact, legacy, and memory will never be forgotten.
