Our friends are our family and when they need our help, it's our duty to do whatever we can to support them and to show them how much we love them.
Doug Schirado, Dena Wise and their families need our help NOW! Dena has been by Doug's side, making sure he knows how much love he has and that she's there. His family and 2 sons- Devin & Ben, have been making the drive back and forth from ND to MN to be with him. His Niece Melissa is helping to raise money and is a team member on his GoFundMe account and will be flying in from TX. Doug's sister Cindy is flying in from Wyoming and he's truly blessed to have so much support from his sons and family.
Doug went into the Bismarck ER on Monday, August 27th with Flu symptoms- he had violent shakes and was struggling to even walk.
Thursday, August 30th at 5:30am he went into a coma and was air-lifted to St. Paul, MN. The Doctors put him on Propofol to keep him in a medical coma and he was diagnosed with Meningitis Encephalitis. Dena has been by his side the entire time and continues to ask us all for our prayers.
Saturday, Sept. 1 the Doctors took him off the Propofol and he remained in a coma on his own. He was showing small improvements such as making eye contact, following people with his eyes, and some finger and toe movement.
Monday, Sept. 3 they removed the chest tube and he was breathing with assistance but they gave him a tracheotomy and feeding tube directly to his stomach.
Saturday, Sept. 8- It has been verified that Doug has West Nile, Meningitis, Encephalitis, Pneumonia and Thrush.
Tuesday, Sept. 11- the Doctors confirmed that Doug also has Guillain-Barre syndrome and needs to start Plasmapheresis for the next 10 days and will have 5 treatments every other day.
Doug has so many friends and family cheering him on, especially his friends at Furry Friends Rockin Rescue. Doug and Dena donate a lot of time and love to being foster parents of some pretty great dogs. His first rescue is from CDHS (Roxy), his second was a foster fail, Tucker from FFRR, the 3rd is a Houston flood dog that FFRR brought in from Texas that he wouldn't adopt out and the 4th is little Opal that follows him everywhere. He does his fundraising on the back end by building for FFRR and helping during events.
Dena has remained by Doug's side through this and has not been working. They need help with bills and also with prayers. This is going to be a long road and they need all of the support that they can get, so lets show them how much they are loved and help out however we can.
Dougs sister Julie, has been paying his bills and making sure finances are taken care of. She has set up an account through Capital Credit Union in Bismarck and will be withdrawing the GoFundMe donations and placing them in that account. You can send checks made out to- Doug Schirado Benefit Account and mailed to Capital Credit Union or directly to Julie.
