Supporting Courtney’s Fight Against Breast Cancer

Meet our Warrior Queen, Courtney. She is a wife to Michael, a mother to 2 little boys, Drayson and Dallin, and an 8-week-old little miracle baby girl, Genevieve. She is a daughter, a sister, an auntie, a friend, a passionate hair stylist and the most amazing soul you’ll ever cross paths with.
2 years ago, at the age of only 29, Courtney was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy and went through chemotherapy. We were all so fricken happy to close that chapter. Unfortunately, only 15 short months after Courtney finished chemotherapy, and at 28 weeks pregnant, she found out her breast cancer had returned as a new cancer. In October, at 32 weeks pregnant, she had another lumpectomy. November 25th, Courtney delivered a healthy baby girl, Genevieve, who truly is her little angel on Earth and has been by her Mama’s side through everything. Court got 7 weeks to embrace her family, obsess over her newborn and have some calm within the storm before the hurricane. In January, Courtney started chemotherapy and still has 3 more rounds to go. Because Court is BRCA positive, when she is finished chemo and feels strong enough, she will go for a double mastectomy and then when she has healed from that, she will have a hysterectomy.
I truly cannot even imagine the stress, the anxiety and the fear that Mike and Courtney are going through. The battle has just begun. All of Courtney’s appointments are in Edmonton and she lives in Vegreville, and surprisingly, not all medications are covered. Courtney is taking time off work to let her body rest, heal and be a Mom to her sweet little boys and care for her newborn. I know the Yakimetz family is surrounded by SO MUCH love and support. I also know this is another way for the people who care so much about them to help. This is a help they would never ask for, but it is a help so many want to give
