Anyone who know Carlos knows that he is a friend of everyone! It's his bigger than life personality by which everyone is sure to remember him. You will never see Carlos without his gigantic smile, telling funny jokes and having those deep belly laughs of his. Maybe you have even been fortunate enough to have experienced some of his amazing chef skills with paella and BBQ cooking. If you ever need help, Carlos is one who has been there for so many and will always be agreeable to do anything he can for anyone in need. Recently, he has been active with Lean On Me International planning and working on events to help other Isleños in need. Now it is Carlos himself who needs support from us.
Currently, Carlos is experiencing a medical crisis for which he has been hospitalized in Cancún at IMSS General Hospital. He is on a ventilator machine for respiratory distress due to pneumonia. He has a history of hypertension for which the physicians are attempting to control with medications. One of the medications administered for his blood pressure has in turn caused some issues with his kidneys. Needless to say, it has been a stressful, and fear inducing experience for his wife Tani and his family.
Health care for a medical crisis of this magnitude comes with a significant price tag. The good news is his hospitalization will be covered by IMSS. On the flip side, while hospitalized Carlos obviously has not able to work. Therefore he has been accumulating daily living expenses such as rent, electricity, water etc. and will continue to do so until he can return to work. He will need supportive healthcare attendants around the clock for a while after discharge to home. He may possibly need some rehabilitation and assistance with this expense too. This Go Fund Me page has been created to assist Carlos in receiving the home care and rehabilitation he will need to reach full recovery plus covering his daily living expenses.
