Vardaan - an orphanage in India

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Aashna and I am a student in London. I have applied to study Medicine which I hope that I will be pursuing in a few months. My motivation for Medicine has always been its applications- the ability to help people when they need me most and I believe this stemmed greatly from my experiences at the orphanage which has taught me a huge deal and I wish to share that with you.  Every year when I volunteer I feel immensely grateful for every single member of the organisation that does their absolute best to keep all the children not only safe and healthy but also comfortable in their own caring home. One particular case I will never forget is the case of Aayansh. This orphan displayed severe mental and physical disabilities when I met him a year ago which was not only heart-breaking to see but meant that his chances of adoption were significantly low in India. However, with the continuous support of the organisation and all the financial and emotional support I could contribute, Aayansh has now significantly improved- I could barely recognise him when I visited him last week! He went from a toddler who couldn't walk and only cried to a child who laughs and runs all day. We are hoping to see more improvements so he can join a school and become more independent. Cases like these make every single penny donated worth so much more.  One thing I noticed when I visited the orphanage was the fact that these children were abandoned either due to poverty, their illnesses or even their gender. These are major concerns in India. I even saw a one-month-old baby girl who was thrown away on the streets because her mother did not want to deal with the 'hassle' of raising a girl. No child deserves to be treated like this. This is one of the many reasons why I will continually support Vardaan, because it takes care of children who should have the opportunity to grow up in a caring and learning environment.   We must acknowledge that it is financially difficult for the orphanage to take care of so many children with many different needs. Aayansh's treatments alone can take up to £200 per month. To relieve some of their stress and support their dedicated cause, I would like to donate £500 to assure them that there are people who would like to ensure the sustainability of such a noble charity. The money will go towards treatments, medications, beds, food, school funding and other needs of the children. Financial support may even mean better treatment for children like Aayansh who urgently need our support.  I thank you for taking the time and interest in reading about this orphanage and I hope if anything it has made you more aware of the significance this funding will mean to me and the children I whole-heartedly support.
