Support "That teacher from KY who was on Jeopardy"

Donation protected
Hey guys, remember last year when there was a (30 year old!) teacher from Columbia, KY who was on Jeopardy!?  The one who dedicates all of her time outside of the classroom to supporting the school Governs Scholars and Academic Team? The one who went to Berea College and graduated with honors in English?  She's the girl who always has a smile on her face and lifts everyone up when they need it.  The girl who loves live music like life itself.

Because she is so rare, a rare form of pancreatic cancer decided to take her on as its host.  She's fought a HARD and STRONG battle, and even taught through it remotely last year during Covid.  After a summer of chemo , and a fall of trial treatments has failed, she is coming home.  She has two weeks to a few months left with us.

The hero behind the scenes is her husband.  Her ROCK of 10 years who has been caring for her, and (literally) carrying her for several months.  He's not comfortable asking for help, but for those of you who don't know me, I've never been afraid to make Sean uncomfortable for his own good.  (I used to regularly threaten to propose to Vicki if he didn't sooner).  I'm crying typing this, because there just aren't words to describe what a devoted and loving husband he is. He's taking a leave from his job to spend his last moments with the woman he should have had another 60 years with.  (and because we live in America, that leave is unpaid)

He's dealing with the unthinkable.  The LAST thing I want on his mind is money.  He needs to focus on her physical health and his mental health during this time.  I don't want him to have piles of medical bills to remind him of his wife.  So I created this page so that we can all help prevent that from being the case.  I know it may be a shock (sarcasm) but Teachers are not paid as the super stars and life altering professionals that they deserve. And their insurance isn't big-pharma level generous.   So, for those of us who wish they were paid more in life, here is a chance to help compensate in death.

Let's make sure that all Sean comes home to, and the only reminders of her life well lived, and their life together, are pictures, and videos, and casseroles and flowers left at the door.  Not opening the mailbox to see another bill, and putting in overtime to pay them off. That is not what Vicki would want, and that is not who we are as a community and a country.  Let's pay our fortunate and blessings forward.
