On Monday, October 30, 2017 Jacob was woken up to start to get ready for school when it was discovered that something was terribly wrong.
Half his face was limp, he couldn't walk, his speech was slurred and he was saying “my head hurts”. 911 was immediately called and he was brought to Berkshire Medical Center. His condition was so serious that he was rushed him by ambulance to Albany Medical Center. The doctors mentioned that they weren't sure if he would even survive the ambulance ride to Albany.
Once in Albany, it was discovered that he had a brain aneurism that had ruptured. Surgery was done right away but the doctors couldn’t reach it because it is too deep within his brain. They are hoping to perform another surgery but now have to wait for the swelling to come down. This could be days to weeks. Jacob remains sedated at this point. He can hear the doctors talking to him and is able to squeeze fingers but not much other movement at this point.
It was just a few days ago that Jacob was enjoying life with his family including his older brother Odin and baby brother Cooper who is only 6 months old.
Jacob & his family live in Pittsfield and are traveling back
and forth to the hospital in Albany. Both Vanessa and Brady are out of work to care for their 3 sons. Vanessa has not left the hospital and needs to keep Cooper close by for feedings.
If you are able to, please help this family with expenses of bills, gas, food and other necessities for the boys during this difficult time.
Everyone is hoping he will pull through and that there won't be any permanent damage to his little brain. Until then keep them in your thoughts & prayers and donate if you are able to.
Since Jacob has been in the hospital the following letter was sent home congratualting him on receiving the Principal's Award at school - just last week! What an honor for a special little boy!
Lets get Jacob back on his feet and back in school as soon as possible!
