Support for Rosie

She didn’t have the best start to life, she was a stray kitten that was left abandoned by the stray mother, under my sisters car. From there she struggled to find a home because she was so malnourished and young. Thankfully my parents allowed me to take her in and look after her until she was better. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and shes in good health. Still suffered from eczema and had issues with eating. But she was her best self. Over the years, we have had many vet visits, but nothing anything major. She is an indoor cat that has kept me sane during the lockdown during Covid-19. I have had her for 6 years this month and yesterday was our worst day yet. Yesterday morning, was like every morning, Rosie got up early hounding for some breakfast. It was a hot day, but we stayed cool inside. It was about lunch time that she started acting “ill” she just didn’t want to eat any lunch time crunchies. I put it down to just being too hot and full. After a little while though, she started vomiting. Again, nothing I was too concerned about, we all feel sick every now and again. We called our local vet, he wasn’t too concerned, just told us to call in if she got worse. Hours past, and she wasn’t getting any better, she kept hiding, her eyes were wide, very lethargic, was meowing in distress, she was just lying there, lifeless.. her head laying in her own vomit and lying in her own urine. It was heartbreaking to see her like that. So I called the local vet again, they said we could bring her in but they would just give her some pain killers and lock her in a cage until morning, I knew we didn’t have until morning and I couldn’t give up on my girl. So I took her to the closest emergency vet. Where they started work on her immediately! They thought she had a blockage in her stomach, so they completed x-rays, ultrasounds. They couldn’t see too much, so decided to operate. Unfortunately, there was no blockage. So they have ruled that out. They have taken blood tests and biopsies, we are waiting results in case it is cancer, or an autoimmune disease. They think potentially that she could have been bitten by a spider due to all her muscles weakening and in pain. She is not doing to great at the moment, we are still waiting on results, while she is in intensive care on IV fluids. Rosie, like all of our pets, is my fur baby. I would do anything for her!! But with this sudden medical incident, I’m left out of pocket. Vet bills are increasing and coming in at just over $10,000 at the moment, I didn’t expect the bills to increase this high, especially in such a short period of time. So, I’m asking the public for a bit of help, even if it’s $0.50 or $1.00. It will come along way to helping with Rosies vet bill. I just want Rosie back in our arms, healthy and happy, we love her to absolute pieces and hate seeing her in pain, she should just be at home sleeping peacefully wherever she wants, I’m sure anyone would do the same for their fur babies, no one likes to see them stressed and fighting for life. I pray that she is getting better, I hope the vet rings me soon with some good news, waiting is the worst part. 2020 has hands down been the worst year for my family and I, as we know most people would feel the same. Those of you that know me, know that we lost our beautiful 3 year old German Shepard to a heart attack while he was away at obedience school 6 weeks ago. That absolutely broke us, yet here we stand again, in a similar situation. Hopefully, things are moving for upward from here.
