Please help Chester and his family

On tuesday at 4am Chester was in a bad way, wetting himself, hunched over in pain, yelping and unable to sit or lay down. He was taken to the emergency vet who gave him pain relief and the advice that he can wait to be seen when a normal vet practice opens. He was then taken to another vet who kept him overnight on fluids and sent him home the next day even though he was still in pain and unable to eat or lay down. This vets diagnosis was that he may have a slight infection in his gut and he would be fine - information that we would later find out was almost his death sentence and a waste of $900 During the night he was very unsettled and in distress so it was obvious that something still wasn't right. The next day Chester went to see another vet for a second opinion, the vets advice is that we don't wait as his heart rate was 50 beats below his normal, his temp was in the 40's and he could hardly move off the floor. He was admitted and given an ultrasound which confirmed the worst, that he would need emergency surgery or his life could be lost. Chester had a severe blockage from his stomach all the way through his small intestine. It was a piece of string that had become entagled basically scrunched up his insides. His bowel had perforated and his intestines were damaged beyond repair. This resulted in 20cm of intestine and a large portion of his bowel needing to be removed. During the surgery they also discovered that he had had a significant amount of intestinal leakage into his abdomen so he needed to be flushed out with 10L of saline and has since been on 3 types of antibiotics to try and keep an infection at bay. As of today his temperature is still high and he still won't eat which is worrying as it can be a sign of infection. Each night he is transported from his vet to the after hours clinic as he needs round the clock care. As it stands, his outstanding bill is around $4,000 and and the potential to rise dramatically if he develops an infection due to the intestinal leakage as he would need an abdominal tap and another operation. Chester is a larger than life, one of a kind dog. He is a very loved member of his family and his 2 year old best friend Ava is missing him immensely. Words cannot describe the pain of seeing your pet/family member in this type of situation. Any money raised would be greatly appreciated as the family is struggling and will go towards Chester's outstanding vet bills and his medications needed for his recovery. Thank you all kindly for your support xoxo
