Support Champale Denise

Drag Legend and Knoxville Icon Champale Denise, as many of you know, has been facing serious health issues for the last 18 months. In recent months, those issues have prevented Champale from doing what she loves most, entertaining! Drag, however is not just Champale's passion, it is her living. Unfortunately, she has been placed back in the hospital, now facing a broken vertebrae on top of the pre-existing issues. As she was attempting to raise herself out of bed, she happened to cough. The pressure of the cough combined with the pressure of the tumor they have discovered on her spine was simply too much. Unable to work, Champale's loving family and friends have gathered around her to gather the resources of the community to provide for her during this time. As the Show Director, Emcee, and sometimes custodian at the Carousel II for over two decades, an entire generation of drag fans--gay, straight, black, white, college students AND professors, pastors and pageant girls alike--were entertained by and attribute their inspiration as Champale. Before drag was cool, before softball leagues and centers and choirs, before all that, there was Champale Denise. Every dollar contributed to this fund will go directly to Champale and her immediate care. At a time when goodwill is so hard to come by, we hope you will give whatever you can to let Champale know how much she is loved.
