Carie's Medical Fund

This is my sister Carie. She was a healthy, active, strong 24 year old girl. She ate healthy, loved to run, went to church every week, and was one of the most caring and loving people you could know. She was newly engaged and excited to plan her life. Always putting others in front of herself and making sure people were cared for, she had dreams to be an occupational therapist and help others in need. She worked at a nursing home for people with disabilities to provide them emotional support and activities to keep them feeling happy and alive. My sister made bags of toiletries to hand out to the homeless every Christmas, just because she wanted to give back. Two years ago around Christmas she was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor. Since then, she has been on an endless roller coaster of new obstacles. She has been through difficult brain surgery, radiation, seizures, chemotherapy, losing her hair, blood clots in her lungs that made it difficult to breathe, thousands of pills and treatments, and countless hospital visits and tests. Throughout it all she has tried to remain strong and positive.

A year ago she had another obstacle thrown her way that would be the hardest thing yet when she slowly began to lose movement on the left side of her body. This continued to progress over a 6 month period of time and now she has lost a lot of her independence and has to rely on others for most of her daily functions, including dressing and moving around the house. I would do absolutely anything for my sister and best friend. I would love for her to gain a little bit of independence to help boost her mood so we are trying to buy a few things to help her, including pieces of medical equipment we could use to help her with her range of motion to hopefully get a little bit of movement back. As you can imagine, after 2 years of tests and scans and treatments, medical bills are through the roof. In addition to medical bills and equipment, we would love to take Carie on a vacation. She has been working so hard to get better and has been stuck in the house for the majority of the last year and anything we can do to make her life a little richer and lift her spirits I think would help immensely.  Anything you can do to support Carie through this trying time would be so, so appreciated.

Most recently, Caries tumor has acted up again and she has had to begin an intensive trial chemotherapy. As you can imagine, it is taking a lot out of her so all thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated. Let's help keep her spirits up so she can fight this! Thank you everyone for you support on Carie's journey to health.

God bless you all and thank you so much for your support.  A very special thank you to everyone who has been so supportive already and made Carie and our whole family feel so loved and cared for. You are truly blessings to our lives and we are so thankful for you.
