2000. őszén egy maroknyi Boston környéki magyar család úgy érezte, hogy gyermekeik számára szükség lenne rendszeres magyar nyelvű programokra, ezért hétvégi iskolás és óvodás foglalkozásokat szervezett. Ebből a kezdeményezésből alakult meg a Bartók Béla Bostoni Magyar Iskola és Óvoda, közismert nevén BOSKOLA .
Az iskolás osztály 2001-ben
A kezdeti egy óvodai és egy iskolai csoportból (összesen kb. 20 gyermek) a 20 év alatt 14 csoportra növekedett a Boskola tanulóinak száma. Jelenleg 140 diák jár a magyar nyelvű foglalkozásokra, amelyek magukban foglalják a bölcsődétől kezdve a magyarul tanulni vágyó felnőttek csoportjait is, kiegészítve a programot a délutáni cserkészettel.
Miután a helyi magyar közösségnek nincs ingatlana, a foglalkozásokat bérelt templomi helyiségekben tartják a teljesen önkéntesen dolgozó tanárok.
A program sikerének köszönhetően a tanulók létszáma annyira megnövekedett, hogy több ízben kellett a bérelt helyek számát növelni, s a jelenlegi megoldás már további növekedést nem tesz lehetővé. A Jövő Boskolájért Alap megteremti a folytatólagos fejlődés lehetőséget és anyagi biztonságot nyújt az esetleg szükségessé váló változtatáshoz.
Szeretnénk e remek kezdeményezést még hosszú éveken át folytatni, s minél több gyermeknek megadni a lehetőséget, hogy megtanuljon magyarul írni-olvasni, elsajátítsa a magyar irodalom, történelem, földrajz és néphagyomány alapjait, hogy magyarul beszélő barátokra tegyen szert, s hogy kialakuljon egy egészséges magyarság tudata.
Ehhez kérjük a támogatást.
Bármilyen kicsi és nagy összeget szívesen fogadunk, hisz sok kicsi sokra megy.
Iskolánk a non-profit Massachusetts Magyar Egyesület szárnyai alatt működik, az adományokról szükség esetén igazolást tudunk adni.

Foundation for Boskola’s Future
In the fall of 2000, a handful of Boston-area Hungarian families felt that their children would benefit from regular exposure to Hungarian-language programs, so they organized a weekend program with classes for preschool- and school-aged children. From these humble beginnings grew the Béla Bartók Hungarian School of Boston, commonly known as BOSKOLA.
The school-aged class of 2001
From a single preschool class and a single class of school-aged children in its inaugural year – a total of about 20 students – Boskola grew to 14 groups and over 140 students over the following 20 years. Currently, the students ranging from nursery-aged toddlers to adult language learners attend the school, now complemented by an afternoon scouting program.
As the local Hungarian community does not own real estate, all activities are held in rented church space by the teachers, who are all volunteers.
Owing to the success of the offered programs and the resultant steadily increasing number of students, Boskola expanded its rented space several times over the years. At this time, however, the space it is using does not permit further growth. The Foundation for Boskola’s Future will underpin the school’s financial stability, thereby enabling its further evolution, and provide flexibility to change its facility arrangements, should it prove necessary.
We would like to continue our excellent educational initiative for many more years to come, with the aim of providing children with the opportunity to nurture a healthy identity as Hungarian-Americans. Our school will continue to teach children to read and write Hungarian, familiarize them with the basics of Hungarian literature, history, geography and folk heritage, and provide a social circle in which they can make Hungarian-speaking friends.
It is for this that we ask your support.

Our school operates under the auspices of the non-profit Hungarian Society of Massachusetts; we are happy to provide an official record of your donation for tax purposes, if asked.
