Araceli's Breast Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Hi everyone, My sister and I have decided to create this fundraiser because my mom was recently diagnosed with stage III Inflammatory Breast Cancer.

It started in early January 2018 when our mom noticed noticed a small bump on her right breast. After speaking to both my sister and I, we advised her to seek medical attention. Skip forward two weeks later and my mom is being scheduled for a biopsy due to an inconclusive result that came back from the mammogram. It's during this time that the pain in her breast began. However, she continues to work and continues to pray for God's will to be done.  Jump to February 12th, the day my mom was diagnosed with cancer. The biopsy results came back positive for a tumor growing inside her right breast. If that wasn't devistaning enough, the tumor had already spread beyond the breast wall and had begun to take over other parts of the body such as the axillary and neck lymph nodes. That was also the first time my mom allowed my sister and I to see her chest and neck.

The idea to see your parents, expecially your mom, go through a kind a pain  you can't do anything about but would gadly take on is something I never wish for anyone. IBC is unlike anyother kind of breast cancer in the sence that it takes a very aggressive form and is often detected in a late stage because it's very difficult to track. Just to give you an idea- my mom didn't have any symtoms during Christmas and here we are in February with stage III cancer. The doctor has orded my mom to no longer work in order to prepare for the long road that we have ahead.  My husband, Keagan, and I are also in the process looking for a new place so we can care for my mom out of the comfort of our own home.

Asking for help is hard. Asking for financial help is harder. However, when it deals with the health of my mom there is nothing that Abby and I wouldn't do. We would move mountains for her. Abby and I have created this fundraiser to create the oppurtunity for our family and friends should they like to help us out. She has a ton of support in friends and family; however, the out-of-pocket costs for her treatments is estimated at $10,000 for the first year alone. Mom has taken her short-term disability leave to recover from the chemo and mastectomy, however, this will only provide 60% of her pay.

The medical bills and treatment to are begining to add up and Abby, Keagan, and I would like to take this weight off her sholders.  We have been blessed by a great team of doctors at UT Southwestern and are ready to take this battle to victory! Doctors are very hopefull that we can turn this situation around and strive for remission. Currently, mom is scheudled to begin her first chemo treatment in the next week! Here's a quick glimpse of our game plan for the months to come:

-Chemo (approx 3-6 months)
-Surgery (masectomy)
-Radiation
-Remission (Yay!)

My sister and I have never been shy to share the fact that we were raised by a God-fearing hard working woman.  Sure, at first glance this might not seem like the dream she signed up for but it was through these rough times that she truly met The Lord and completely gave herself up to him. Nothing has been the same since. My mom might not hold a highschool degree. She might not have a glamourous job, or even money in the bank.  What she has is far more valuble of any of those things. What she has is faith and hope in the King of Kings, The Alpha and the Omega, The Great I am, the Doctor of Doctors! She knows that she is the daugher of a king!  And the best part is the King knows her by her name!  Araceli wants to thank everyone for their prayers. She also wants everyone to know that her diagonosis has fortified her faith in Christ even more! (Nice try, Satan).  Abby also wanted me to mention that my mom has lead a womens devotional twice a week at the Fannin County Jail for the last six years and is hoping to continue doing so while under going chemo.

We will try our best to keep everyone updated via Facebook.  We also love reading your letters of encouragement and have added our mailing address below. Please continue to pray for my mom, Abby, Keagan, and I. Pray for peace, pray for comfort, pray for laugher, and pray for those who will be touched by my mom's testimony.  May Araceli's cancer not go to waste.

Thank you,

Ana and Abby
