Support Zack's Mission to Recovery

Zack is a 34 year old man recently diagnosed with cancer. He is also a Fanconi Anemia (FA) Warrior. Fancioni anemia is a genetic disorder that leads to significant risk of bone marrow failure and head and neck cancer. Zack has always beat the odds. When Zack was young, the doctors didn’t think he’d make it to his fifth birthday.
Zack did very well, having undergone a bone marrow transplant when he was young because of the generous donation from his older brother, Aaron. Instead of giving up, he persevered, married the love of his life, and never turned down a person in need.
But FA comes with another problem- patients with FA are more than 500-700 times likely than the general population to get head and neck cancer.
Zack was recently diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the throat. After his recent surgery, his doctors determined that he is Stage IV. To survive, Zack will need a total laryngealectomy and will lose his ability to speak without a costly implant.
Until recently, Zack worked at UPMC with individuals with intellectual disabilities. He cannot work now because of his aggressive cancer. Amanda works as a therapist and is transitioning to a new practice and has a lowered income until she builds up her caseload. She has had to cancel many sessions to be with Zack throughout his surgeries and his aftercare, which has further reduced her income.
Your donation will help Zack and Amanda directly with living expenses so that they can focus on healing, getting better, and enjoying the time they have together rather than worrying about their bills.
Zack has always rallied to help everyone, whether it's the people he work with, or a stranger in need. It's our turn to support him. Please thoughtfully consider donating to help Zack and Amanda.
