Hello!
My name is Yusuf Nasir. I am an up-and-coming Film Director in Los Angeles who has spent the past ten years as a Professional Dancer and Choreographer prior to my new artistic pursuits. I am creating this GoFundMe in the hopes of raising the funds necessary to create my next short film project titled “Life In Under Twenty-Five Minutes”. This short is loosely a continuation of my first short titled “Regret To Inform You,” which debuted in 2022 and received critical acclaim amongst entertainment/film industry veterans. It was the winner of the Outfest Emerging Artist Award and Malibu Film Festival Vanguard Award, and chosen as Variety Magazine’s Top Oscar Prediction pick for Best Live Action Short in 2023.

Synopsis: The film centers around a man reflecting on the highs and lows of his life on the eve of his 40th birthday. Unsatisfied with life, succumbing to depression and anxiety, he places himself in a near-fatal car accident. Knocked unconscious, he descends into THE HOLDING, a room created in his mind that he retreats to when his reality is too imbalanced. Here, he must confront his adult decisions and challenges, deciding whether he wants to live and return to reality or end his story.
As with my previous work, this new project further blends dramatic narrative storytelling and dance in ways that are not typically seen on film. Although the theme touches upon the serious matter of suicide, the film looks to also explore the emotional and physical toll the pursuit of a fulfilling life can take on us, and that human struggles (within reason ) are not beyond solution and that there is light on the other side of our despairs.
