<div>We are a small family who came to the United States a few years ago after the war in our home country forced us to leave everything behind. We moved to Washington State to protect our children and start a new life — from scratch — with a new language, new jobs, and no built-in support system.

<div>We were finally starting to find stability when our world was turned upside down.

<div>My wife — a kind, strong, and deeply loving woman — was recently diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening blood disorder called Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH). Alongside that, doctors also found a JAK2 gene mutation, and she has already developed a serious complication known as Budd-Chiari Syndrome, which involves life-threatening blood clots in the liver.

<div>What Makes This So Rare and Dangerous?
</div>
<div>Each of my wife’s diagnoses is serious on its own — but together, they form a combination that is extremely uncommon and medically complex. Here's what we’ve learned from medical literature and our care team:

<div>⚠️ Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Affects an estimated 1 to 2 people per million.
</div>
<div>This ultra-rare disorder causes the immune system to attack the body’s own red blood cells — leading to severe anemia, fatigue, and a high risk of deadly blood clots.
</div>

<div>⚠️ JAK2 V617F Mutation
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Found in about 0.1% to 0.2% of the general population (roughly 1 in 500 to 1,000 people).
</div>
<div>This gene mutation disrupts how the bone marrow functions and increases the risk of blood clots throughout the body.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>⚠️ Budd-Chiari Syndrome
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Estimated to occur in 1 to 4 people per million per year, with an overall prevalence around 10 to 15 per million.
</div>
<div>It is a rare liver condition where blood clots block veins that drain the liver — causing swelling, pain, and in some cases, organ failure.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Why This Combination Is So Concerning
</div>
<div>While each of these conditions is rare, the co-occurrence of all three in a single patient is exceptionally rare.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There are no standard clinical guidelines for treating this exact combination. Our doctors are making decisions carefully, based on limited case reports, their expertise, and constant reassessment.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As our hematologist explained, this combination — PNH, JAK2 mutation, and Budd-Chiari Syndrome — may occur in as few as 1 person in 10 million, or even less. It is something they had either never personally seen before or only encountered in medical literature.
</div>

<div>This makes every day unpredictable. Every decision carries weight. And the emotional and financial toll is heavy.
