Support youth start-up in Serbia

Donation protected
My name is Nada. I spent the better part of my childhood as a Bosnian refugee, following the war in the former Yugoslavia, fought in the 1990s. Eventually, my family recovered, but I never forgot the kindness that we received from the locals in Serbia.

So now, I am in a position to give back, and I want to help a team of young fitness trainers at "GROM Unique” workout to open a gym in Kragujevac, in central Serbia.

Check out GROM on Instagram:

To set up a gym costs roughly $60,000 AUD (or roughly €40,000 EUR). The gym will be equipped with weights, machinery, cables, a CrossFit area and pool.

MY AIM IS TO RAISE $10,000 AUD.

Young people in Serbia are faced with enormous challenges when entering the labour market.*

Many young people have left Serbia, but the GROM team believe that they can succeed in Serbia just as anywhere else.

Most importantly, the GROM team will create job opportunities for their local community.

I appreciate that money can be tight, so please know that even $5 helps the GROM team get closer to their goal.

If able, please make a donation and share my cause with your network. Thank you for standing with me.

NOTES
*Read more about youth employment  in Serbia

During last year, youth unemployment was more than twice that of the overall unemployment rate in Serbia (a 34.9% unemployment rate among individuals aged 15-24 vs. a 15.3% overall unemployment rate). Furthermore, the chances for youth to be employed are three times lower (ILO, 2015). At the same time, the quality of jobs for those who are employed often does not meet the criteria of the definition of “decent work”. A total of 47.4% of employed youth are informally employed (Marjanovic, 2016). Considering their earnings, 22.6% of all employed youth receive a net salary of 200 EUR, while two thirds have a net salary of up to 380 EUR.
