<div>Since the beginning of 2020 we have been struggling over a noise complaint that has left us with no option other than to renovate our old alt-bau building, otherwise we will be forced to close. The renovations are going to cost 50,000€, with no support from the landlords, we need to raise all the money ourselves.

<div>Our bakery collective was opened in 1981 and has been running as a collective ever since. That means we work without bosses or managers; we function under a non-hierarchical structure where we are all responsible for the up-keep of the bakery, as a team. We are a group of 15 international and largely FLINTA* bakers who rely on die Backstube for our livelihood. We don’t only work together but we are a community that takes care of each other.

<div>Die Backstube is in an old (altbau) building and the noise carries up from the floor, through the walls, to our neighbours which has resulted in a formal complaint against us to the environmental office. Despite working with our neighbours over the last year to implement many noise-reduction measures, the quality of the old floor just cannot be cancelled out and we are now required to rip it out and build in a new one. The environmental office has ordered that we renovate as soon as possible, so our plan is to build at the end of January. That gives us just under 2 months to raise this sum for the project.

<div>Considering the loss in revenue we have and continue to experience through corona, like many others, we are already in a critical financial situation. 50,000€ is a very large sum for our small bakery. That’s why we are asking for your financial support to help us keep this collective alive and running!

<div>Seit Anfang 2020 kämpfen wir mit einer Lärmbeschwerde, die uns keine andere Möglichkeit lässt, als unsere in die Jahre gekommenen Altbauräume zu renovieren, ansonsten droht uns die Schließung. Diese Baumaßnahmen werden uns 50.000€ kosten. Da unser Vermieter uns dabei nicht unterstützt, müssen wir das Geld eigenständig aufbringen.

<div>Unser Bäckerei wurde 1981 eröffnet, und wird seitdem als Kollektiv betrieben. Das bedeutet, wir arbeiten ohne Chef*innen oder Manager*innen, wir funktionieren ohne hierarchische Strukturen. Somit sind wir alle gemeinsam verantwortlich, die Bäckerei am Laufen zu halten. Wir sind eine Gruppe von internationalen und größtenteils FLINTA* Bäcker*innen, deren Lebensunterhalt von der Backstube abhängt. Wir arbeiten nicht nur zusammen, sondern wir sind eine Gemeinschaft, die sich umeinander kümmert und gegenseitig unterstützt.

<div>Die Backstube befindet sich in einem in die Jahre gekommenen Altbau-Gebäude, weshalb unsere Arbeitsgeräusche vom Boden durch die Wände direkt zu unseren Nachbar*innen übertragen werden. Dies hat nun zu einer formellen Beschwerde ihrerseits an das Umweltamt geführt. Obwohl wir während des letzten Jahres mit unseren Nachbar*innen daran gearbeitet haben, lärmreduzierende Maßnahmen einzuführen, kann die schlechte Qualität des Bodens nicht ausgeglichen werden. Aus diesem Grund wird nun von uns verlangt, den Boden herauszureißen und einen neuen, besseren einzubauen. Das Umweltamt hat angeordnet, dass wir so bald wie möglich renovieren müssen, deshalb ist unser Plan, bereits Ende Januar zu bauen. Somit bleiben uns nur knapp unter 2 Monate, um die große Geldsumme für das Projekt zusammenzutragen.

<div>Aufgrund der Einnahmenverluste, die wir wie so viele Andere durch Corona haben, befinden wir uns schon länger in einer finanziell kritischen Situation. <span style="letter-spacing:0.0085px;">50.000€ ist eine riesige Summe für unsere kleine Backstube.
