UPDATE 11/4:
Dad was admitted to the hospital Friday night due to low oxygen. After a CT scan they brought in a cardiologist and decided to do a heart cath Sunday morning. They said when they first went in it did not look good, he had quite a bit of plaque build up, and put in three stints. They said that this could have been caused by lifestyle and in part by his chemo treatments as well. His color is back in his cheeks, he is maintaining his oxygen levels, and gets to go home today. He is still pretty tired and sleeps most of the time. He is still in pain from the tumors in his bones, but says that he is feeling somewhat better. He will miss his clinical trial this week, but will hopefully go back next week. They will have to do a reassessment, but we are hopeful he will be able to continue with the trial if he so chooses.
We can not thank everyone enough for the support that has been shown. I am so grateful to each and every person that has donated, not only here, and has reached out to my dad, Shellee, and myself. I'm blown away by the amount of people that have helped my dad and truly thank each and everyone of you! ❤️
My Dad, Wayne, was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer in October 2023. He has been battling through chemo, surgeries, and hospital stays for just over a year. He was told in September of this year that the available chemotherapy options were no longer working and his only other option was to seek clinical trials. He has been accepted into a clinical trial that is set to begin October 29, 2024. He will travel every week to DFW for three days for the first few weeks and then every other week for a while. He is part of the first group of patients to try this chemo through this clinical trial! So, there is a lot of unknown going into this. The doctors are not able to give him possible side effects and we do not know how he will feel traveling during this process. He is in quite a bit of pain right now, and the past few visits down there have not been easy.
I'm starting this to help Dad and Shellee with travel and medical cost. They will have two nights hotel stay, food, gas, and other cost that add up fast. During this time Shellee is obviously not able to work for the three days they are gone. We have had many people asking ways they can help, and I feel like this will be the easiest way at this time. Dad is overwhelmed with the amount of people that have been there for him during this time and continue to shower he and Shellee with prayers and love. We all greatly appreciate all the prayers, phone calls, messages, and support during this journey.
Thank you all for everything you have and continue to do!
