We are raising funds to support the UTC in Epworth, Zimbabwe, to have adequate water supplies during the drought season. UTC is one of the strongest emerging training hubs for democratic and environmental advocates in Africa. Donations will be used to transport water to the school, ensuring their continued operation. A donation as small as $25 will provide the school with 650 gallons of water.
During the drought season, UTC relies on water sources far away from it because its underground water is polluted by a nearby phosphates industry. When it is not drought season, UTC relies on electricity pumped water from further away. Currently, the supply of electricity in Zimbabwe has been reduced to a few hours a day. Those few hours of electricity are frequently further disturbed by electrical faults which are attended to by the electricity supply authority after long periods of time.
Please take a moment and support this important effort.
NOTE: All funds will be held by Peace Appeal, led by Derek Brown, a non-profit located in Charlottesville, VA, who will then distribute them to UTC.
