My name is Shelley Moorhead, and I am the President of the African-Caribbean Reparations and Resettlement Alliance (ACRRA). ACRRA is dedicated to securing reparative justice, advocating for legislative change, and ensuring historical accountability for the descendants of enslaved Africans in the former Danish West Indies (now the U.S. Virgin Islands).

For years, ACRRA has worked tirelessly to engage with policymakers in Denmark and the Virgin Islands, pushing for formal acknowledgment of Denmark’s colonial past and its lasting impact. With recent developments in the Danish debate on apology to the people of the Virgin Islands, this is a critical moment to amplify our message and push for meaningful action.

Støt De Amerikanske Jomfruøers Kamp for Reparativ Retfærdighed og Historisk Ansvar fra Danmark Mit navn er Shelley Moorhead, og jeg er præsident for African-Caribbean Reparations and Resettlement Alliance (ACRRA). ACRRA arbejder målrettet for at sikre reparativ retfærdighed, fremme lovgivningsmæssige ændringer og kræve historisk ansvarlighed for efterkommerne af de enslaved afrikanere i de tidligere Dansk Vestindiske Øer – det nuværende U.S. Virgin Islands.

Med de seneste udviklinger i den danske debat om en officiel undskyldning til befolkningen på Jomfruøerne, står vi nu ved et kritisk øjeblik for at forstærke vores budskab og skubbe på for reel handling.
