Support Victor's Battle for His Life

Approximately 5 months ago, Life was Great i was happy, and i had my greatest support system , my rock , my best friend , laughing and joking with me! This precious soul is my brother , Victor Basily.
Victor has been a registered nurse for over 34 years. He has also been a nurse supervisor and he has always enjoyed his profession helping people as well as others and saving lives. He worked tiredlessly through out the pandamic and even got covid himself but he didnt let that stop him from taking care of his patients and from doing what he loves most.

His insurance has lapesed because he was in the middle of renewing another contract during the onset of his serious illness. Therefore he has no healthcare coverage that will pay for his medical exspences and his other medical bills.

Somewhere around the end of october of 2024 I began sensing that something was wrong with him because he started losing weight, yet all the while he was still working. He never missed work he even picked up extra shifts and he worked on major holidays just to make exta money inorder to support his family.

He is a diabetic and he has neruopathy for quite some time. He could barley walk at times and he had to wear compression hose because of the edema in his legs and feet were grossly enormous. He even had to cut his shoes to try to make them comfortable for him to wear through out his shifts which were 12 to 16 hrs.

Well I started noticing that his weight loss was getting gradually getting worse, and fianlly i asked him Vic why are you losing so much weight? he fianlly told me that he had been having server abdominal pain and that he couldnt eat much because food wasnt settling well with his stomach. I immediatly urged him to go to the emergency room and that we needed to find out what was going wrong. Well he simply wouldnt have that he said that he had to work to support his family and this would go away.
His back and legs had been hurting him and the progessively worsened. He could only walk a few steps at a time due to the pain. I witnessed this first hand and it absoultely broke my heart.
I let Vics situation go for a while longer and his weight loss continued until I finally said enough is enough you have to go to the emergency department , well I invited him to come to my house on the evening of February 24th for dinner and upon arrival he was in excruciating pain and discomfort so I told him that I had to get him to the ER ASAP. He finally agreed but he said " I'll go first thing in the morning". well he fel asleep on my couch and when I woke up the next morning he was hollering for me to help him and he was screaming in pain. I rushed to see what was going on with him and he advised me that his legs were cramping and that he couldnt move nor could he feel his left leg. I asked him if he wanted me to call 911 and he said NO! just give me a minute and the he asked if I could help him to the car and i helped him and off we went to the ER. He was admitted into the hospital on february 25th, 2025. The Orginally said that he had contacted a viral infection possibly from one of his patients so they started treating him with aggresive intravenous antibiotic therapy. Well after a weeks worth of this, he wasnt getting any better he was actually getting worse i just knew something was terribly wrong so they took him for further testing and they found that the infection that he had wasnt viral but rather a bacterial and fungal infection that had lingered and it had gotten into his spine as well as his bones.

They transported him via ambulance to florence for a biopsy and they were able to identifiy the specific orgainism that he had. and they fianlly got him on the correct intravenous antibiotic therpy to treat the orgainism that he contacted. They also found out that his diabetes was uncontrolled but they just recently got that under control as well.
Well because of the strict diet and limited fluid intake that they put him on he has continued to lose weight and now hes down to 156 lbs. Hes nothing but skin and bones hes 6'3 and hes smaller than me its unbeleiveable and absoulutely heartbreaking..
I was told that he would be on these antibiotics for at least 6 months or longer. in addition to physical therapy hasnt been able to get to him nor have they been able to get him up on a regular basis and moving around. Needless to say after laying in a hospital bed without consistant PT he then got a blood clot in his right arm his veins kept blowing and has had to have multiple sticks because of this.
The diagnostic testing revealed yet another major problem one that couldve possibly ever prepared me for .. The diagnostic testing revealed a large mass on his left kidney which has been identified as being suspicious for carcinoma they did some further testing and found that it had now spread into the lymph nodes near the infected kidney.

His urologist went in to do a Cystoscopy and they were going to biopsy the mass, They did put a stent in to attempt to drain some fluid from the infectec kidney however they werent able to visualize much so he will have to go through more surgery.
with this being said Vic has been in the hospital since 02/25/2025 and we have no earthly idea as to how long he will remain there. He can no longer work hes been through so many complications and hes certainly fighting for his life.
I have made some calls and i have another dear childhood friend and sister Beth K. Tyler who has so graciously agreed to help me set up a Go fund me page because I had no idea about how to do it so with this being said i will do whatever it takes to save my 56 year old brothers life . He has a beautiful 8yr old child , a beautiful family, Great colleagues and many many dear friends who love him and we need him!

I would like to ask for some financial support on his behalf in order to help him support his family and especailly his son , Asher. It doesnt matter how much anyone can donate because any amount will be greatly appreciated.

Please note that Any and ALL funds recieved will be distributed by myself Amy Basily, ( Victor's sister) to pay his bills, his household bills and most importantly to pay for his precious sons needs.

I can't begin to Thank you for your continued love, kindness , your generosity and most of all your much needed prayers.
