Poisoned and Houseless Cal Students

Donation protected
loved ones,

after developing symptoms such as rashes, headaches, chest pain, and shortness of breath, diego, william, and myself evacuated our house on September 20th because of lead, mold, and toxic wood dust exposure. please donate to this page so we can raise funds for litigation fees, relocation, and healing.

the severity of this situation plateaued after a pregnant family member came to visit us and developed rashes on her arms and chest. since then, we have been staying with friends and family. after notifying our racist property management company (eri property management in berkeley, california) about the adverse health effects we were experiencing, they tried to kick us out of their office claiming we were liars and didn't know what we were talking about. it was only after we reported them to the  city of berkeley did they agree to administer environmental testing, which confirmed the presence of lead and mold in our unit, and the abandoned unit below us. they have refused to pay our relocation fees, medical bills, or any other damages. They also plan to put this unit right back on the market when we vacate, leaving another family vulnerable to exposure.

here is a picture of sheet rock and lead dust contaminating a tray of fava beans we planted:

a chunk of lead paint and stucko along with the deteriorated lead paint on the outside of our house:
50% of homes in the united states make their inhabitants sick. if you are constantly sick and don't know why, it is probably your home that is poisoning you. please take action to find another place to live immediately, as the trouble of moving is not worth the long term health risks. lead is an environmental contaminant that is toxic to your reproductive and neurological system. it also contributes to high blood pressure, heart disease, and the development of some cancers. children exposed to lead can develop neurological disorders that will negatively impact the rest of their lives.

once this is settled, we plan to build our own house out of earthen materials in a safe location. this will allow us to take care of our responsibilities in berkeley until december when will and diego graduate, and i have completed my research projects.
