We are raising money for the Verona High School Field Hockey Team. Field hockey was unceremoniously removed from the Verona sports program in the 1970s, and we’re bringing it back!
In early 2018, a group of dedicated Verona parents sent out inquiries to determine if girls in our community would be interested in playing Field Hockey. The response was overwhelming, and by the fall we had three teams and over 50 girls representing Verona in the challenging Mid Jersey Youth Field Hockey League.
Unfortunately, since field hockey is a “new” sport for Verona, our team is not financially supported by the school district. As a result, we are responsible for raising ALL of the funds for our season. Compared to other sports, field hockey is thankfully not THAT expensive. However, it’s also not cheap! Between uniforms, tournament fees, travel to games since we don’t have a local field with our sport’s lines, and paying our coaching staff it will take almost $15,000 to get us through one high school season. We’re committed to making this happen from a combination of fees charged to player families, fundraising events, and generous donations from supporters like you.
Our team is designed to help develop life skills like discipline, teamwork, resilience, and physical fitness - but we love playing field hockey too! Any support you can give to the team is greatly appreciated and will go a long way to helping us build a fantastic high school sports program.
When you donate, please be sure to acknowledge the player you are supporting on your donation form. If you are a fan of the team in general - that works too! GO HILLBILLIES!!
