My name is Allison Eanes Chaveste, and I am raising funds for a dear friend of mine, Leynis, who desperately needs help supporting her mother in Nicaragua. Leynis shares her story below. (English is below the Spanish.)

Queridos amigos y comunidad,

Hoy recurro a ustedes con el corazón en la mano para pedir ayuda para mi mamá. Ella es una mujer de 65 años, una madre valiente que con esfuerzo y amor sacó adelante a nuestra familia en Nicaragua. Siempre ha sido ama de casa y, por desgracia, no cuenta con seguro médico.

Hace varios meses comenzó a sufrir lesiones ulcerativas en los pies, pero por miedo a la situación económica de nuestra familia, evitó ir al médico. Con el tiempo, su condición empeoró. Gracias al apoyo de amigos, logramos llevarla al hospital después de casi cuatro meses de dolor y sufrimiento. Lamentablemente, el diagnóstico no fue alentador: la infección ha avanzado hasta los tendones de algunos dedos.

Ahora necesita con urgencia un cateterismo periférico y una intervención quirúrgica en sus pies para detener la infección y salvar su movilidad. Como única hija, estoy haciendo todo lo posible por ayudarla, pero la carga económica es demasiado grande para afrontarla sola.

Por eso, hoy les pido su apoyo. Cualquier aporte, por pequeño que sea, nos acercará a darle a mi mamá la oportunidad de sanar y recuperar su calidad de vida. Mi mayor deseo es volver a verla sana, disfrutar tiempo con ella y asegurarme de que pase sus últimos años sin dolor ni sufrimiento.

Dear friends and community,

Today I turn to you with my heart in my hand to ask for help for my mother. She is a 65-year-old woman, a brave mother who with effort and love got our family ahead in Nicaragua. She has always been a stay-at-home mom and, unfortunately, she does not have health insurance.

Several months ago she began to suffer ulcerative lesions on her feet, but for fear of our family's economic situation, she avoided going to the doctor. Over time, her condition worsened. Thanks to the support of friends, we managed to get her to the hospital after almost four months of pain and suffering. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was not encouraging: the infection has advanced to the tendons of some fingers.

She now urgently needs peripheral catheterization and surgery on her feet to stop the infection and save her mobility. As an only child, I am doing my best to help her, but the financial burden is too great to face alone.

That is why today I ask for your support. Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to giving my mom the opportunity to heal and recover her quality of life. My greatest wish is to see her healthy again, enjoy time with her, and make sure she spends her final years pain-free and suffering-free.
