As a youth development coordinator and community organizer in New York for over 15 years, I have seen the power of healing through positivity and love. I had often wonder how I can help during these difficult times where division is so prominen through media and in our communities. How could I help build a community where we all co exist in peace, regardless of where we come from. We are one people with various backgrounds and have become a New Village. One that shares ideas beliefs and ideologies that can be a tool for nurturing new ideas that can change our world for the better.
The New Village Music Festival has been a labor of love as I’ve combined my passion for the arts youth development and community organizing to promote community love. A free community event with live performances, live art and free cultural music workshops and resources for youth and families. We also provide opportunities for youth to work with industry professionals to learn new skills that will help provide employment opportunities.
This is our way combating the negative stereo types and divisive rhetoric. A way to connect musicians and artist to community. Bringing all people together to celebrate life.
I do Not make money from this but more often pay out of pocket to help cover expenses when limited Sponsors come onboard. I am not one to ask for anyone for money and am always looking for Resorces. This year we are struggling with funding and need more support. These funds will help pay for stage sound , food & beverage , tents , tables and chairs , transportation , marketing promotion, flyers etc.
please join the NEW VILLAGE movement and become part of our family!
