Glory To Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!

My name is Kateryna. I am Ukrainian, and I need your help and support for my Motherland, all Ukrainian People at these horrific times. The present situation has affected my family and me directly; I still have my mother in law there and Granny; my Aunty and her family, my two best school friends and two gorgeous Godsons; friends dotted all around Ukraine and after all, people! People that are suffering...

Our life has changed now before and after the 24th of February, and I will never forget how hard I have squeezed our son and kissed him, as I knew what was coming...

My Grandparents have been send to concentrations camps, my Mum was born there, and from my childhood, I knew what my family went through and how tuff it was for them to survive...

For the past ten days, I have been fully involved in organising the aid to be sent to Ukraine by poorly my family and the local community, which has been Superb!

My husband and his father have done already one drive to Ukrainian Border with all donations, and we are ready to leave in a week time.

I have never done it in my life before, but this page is purely for any financial support we can get to fund our journeys to and back.

UPD 03/08/22- Our 5th drive took place on the 23rd June ( 115day for us as the family helping and volonteering with great help from Saffron Walden Community).

Vlad is driven by himself to the Polish border. It was a long, hot drive with a few long delays in Belgium and Poland. Despite that, he made it and met our lovely hard-working volunteers that waited for him for over 5h at the border. Unloaded the van and made his way back home. Slept for a few hours in the van, had tonnes of coffee, but got home safe after after 2 days on a road.

Driven 1160mls; 23:20h, but it was worth it again!

UPD 08/06/22- A very Late update from me!!!! Ever so sorry)))

Our 4th drive was all set for the Easter time and we have left on the 15th of April and were back home safe 18th Easter Monday!!!

It was Vlad and I who went all the way to the border and we were so so close to our Motherland, that you could feel it (((  

Drive itself was good, despite the snowy weather in Carpathian Mountains in Romania with a drastic change from +12C to a fogy snowy mountain drive and -4C in some parts - it was a challenge for Vlad and the van; I was only in charge of a coffee ( a lot of it )!! 

Was nice to see all our volunteers in action as for the past three and a half months I was here at home in Saffron Walden organizing all drives and donations. Everyone was tired but very pleased to meet finally.

Our 5th drive is being planned for the 23rd June ( fingers crossed ). Again this drive will be all the way to Ukrainian border by Vlad.

We have done our third drive and it was another success in all aspects.

Without the community we wouldn't get where we are now. Thank you for your kind words, messages and all your support that we are getting. x 

All being well we are getting ready for the 4th drive over Easter, aim to leave on the 15th Good Friday.

UPD : 26/03/22- My boys have done two trips so far. Last one was on the 18th March with them being back safe on Monday 3:40 am; tired but safe!!! That is most important for me! 

With the third run being scheduled on the 1st April. That I will be going there myself. It is very close to my heard and doing all collections here, with all lovely people helping us out. It is very important to see the other side. Meet volunteers and most importantly hand out those knitted teddy's that were specially made for the children ( for me as a Mum is very important to do so ) xxx
