My name is Tyler Stack, and your generosity, whether it’s the cost of a coffee or a drink after work, will help me get closer to covering the $26,000 needed to replace my aging cochlear sound processors.
I was born with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss due to a genetic mutation called Connexin-26. From the time I was a toddler, cochlear implants have been my connection to the hearing world. They’ve empowered me in more ways than I could have imagined, and I’m incredibly grateful.
Here’s what these devices have helped me achieve:
- I’m a recent graduate of the University of Mount Union, now launching a career in software sales, a field that demands sharp listening and strong communication.
- They gave me the confidence to thrive socially and build meaningful relationships, leading to one of the greatest moments of my life: proposing to my beautiful girlfriend.
- As a member of the US Deaf Men’s National Soccer Team, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to represent my country, compete at the highest level, and even hear the roar of the crowd.
But now, these processors are failing to pick up sounds and words clearly, impacting my daily life, my ability to speak with confidence, and my connection to those around me.
Unfortunately, my insurance will not cover the cost of new processors unless they are completely broken beyond repair. And due to recent changes with Medicaid, I don’t qualify for Medicaid coverage, even though my hearing loss is a permanent disability, because the assistance provided by my cochlear implants disqualifies me.
Your support, of any amount, would not just help restore my hearing. It would help me thrive in my career, deepen my relationships, and continue representing the Deaf community and my country through sport.
From the bottom of my heart, Thank You.
