Due to the post-election circumstances, potential threats to trans ppls' rights and the overall shakey political climate in the states, I'm potentially going to Canada for an uncertain amount of time. I plan on also (legally) bringing trans and queer friends n acquaintances over the border. We need the extra cash for water, gas, passport costs, rabies vaccinations for our pets, etc.
Half the money will be going towards those who come with me so they aren't dirt broke when they enter Canada. That way, they have at least some cash to get a fresh start. The other half, I will be using for basic RV upgrades to make it as liveable as possible for me and anyone else taking shelter in the motorhome, especially in the Canadian winter. Solar panels, insulation, motorhome skirting for the winter, heated hoses, etc. are what my half of the cash is going to go towards.
I'm already paying for the RV out-of-pocket, and personally have no problem doing so given I have the personal funds. However, the one-time sale isn't the only cost. The RV needs to be insured, registered and prepped for travel.
Bare in mind I have no expectations for this fundraiser. I'll be satisfied if I get even just $1k to split amongst my peers coming with me. We just need to get out of here, and the $12k goal seems to be the most optimal amount for our situation.
Trans rights!
