Support Toru Sugita's Mokuhanga Collaboration in Kyoto
Donation protected
My name is Toru Sugita, Printmaker/Educator. My upcoming project in Fall 2025 will be publishing a series of Japanese woodblock (Mokuhanga) by collaboration with professional Mokuhanga carver and printer in Kyoto, Japan. The subject will be Nakasendo Trail, which runs through my native town Yasu, Shiga. Nakasendo is a historical trail that connected Kyoto and Tokyo during the Edo period. Now, Nakasendo is a hybrid of old houses and new buildings.
For the last several years, I have been sketching my native town, as old houses and shops are disappearing. I will use my Yasu sketches for my Mokuhanga series. I am self-funding the project, but I would like to ask for help to have enough funding to pay my collaborators so high levels of craftsmanship will be utilized in my upcoming series of Mokuhanga. Contributors will receive either my proof prints of past works or receive credit for the next purchase from my studio sale. Thank you very much for considering to help.
