For those who have asked how they can support Tom Marcello and his family during this time, we have created this page.

Tom was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2024. After a previous surgery, the cancer has unfortunately returned. Tom is currently undergoing treatment consisting of chemotherapy and immunotherapy at Mass General and Mass Eye and Ear in Boston, with multiple appointments each week. His treatment plan includes a major surgery this spring to remove cancer from lymph nodes in his neck as well as from inside his jawbone. This surgery will also require reconstruction of his jaw.

Recovery will be extensive. Following surgery, Tom is expected to remain in the hospital for approximately two weeks. Afterwards, he will begin an intensive post-surgery treatment plan that includes radiation in Boston five days a week for six to eight weeks in addition to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy.

While the road ahead will be difficult over the next four to five months, doctors are optimistic and expect Tom to make a full recovery and be cancer-free this fall.

This GoFundMe was created to help ease the financial burden of medical expenses not covered by insurance, travel costs to Boston for roughly 70 treatments, and the many unexpected expenses that come with a long fight like this. It will also help support Tom’s family while he focuses on healing and recovery.
