Subject: Requesting humanitarian support for the war victimized community in Tigray Region, Ethiopia
According to governmental and non-governmental sources, Beginning from August 2020 the worst locust outbreak in generations has descended upon Tigray. Desert locust swarms are extremely dangerous and can tarnish all types of food sources. This disaster comes at the worst possible time for the people who have been fighting COVID-19 pandemic and political turmoil and instability.The swarms have already destroyed hundreds of hectares of crops. Producers who mainly rely for their survival already lost all their farm crops and looking for support.
Not only the above challenge but also another devastating phenomena happens on the whole Tigrai region of Ethiopia. On the 3rd of November 2020, the Federal government declared a full scale war against this region and cutoff all communication medias, electricity and humanitarian supports. The Federal government is bombing the cities using Jets, drones, missiles and tanks and killing civilians and destructing public infrastructures. Following this war, more than 56 thousand people of the region flee to the neighboring country, Sudan. The elder people, women and children staying within the region and those who flee are in a need of emergency aid and are critically in a bad situation.
Therefore, we call upon you to stand in solidarity with the farmers and provide the most urgent financial support to save the life of the victimized communities. Thank you for the kind donations!
